New Opportunities, New Outreach

New Opportunities, New Outreach

In January, right before the Annual Denver Metro Regional Science and Engineering Fair, Central CO AHEC reached out to me to come back as the IT & Communications manager, working remotely. I had held this position briefly in the fall of 2015, but I had to abruptly move to Wisconsin due to some personal circumstances. Ever since I left CCAHEC, I missed working for this cause.  I gladly accepted the position and went straight to work.  Before I talk about that work, here’s a little background on who I am. I was raised in the heat of Las Vegas, NV. I left at 18 to join the Navy and haven’t lived there since. I served for almost 14 years. I now live in the frozen tundra of Northern Wisconsin with my fiancée  and son. I’m really excited to be doing something I love again and can’t wait to see what the future brings.

Upon my return, my first task was to help with the Science Fair in any way I could. After we got through the Science Fair, no easy task, my next goal was to launch a new website, logo, and branding strategy for CCAHEC. I’m proud to say that on April 2nd, we launched our brand-new website and logo at www.ccahec.org.

The logo features selected logo icons portraying health professions, family, online education, and community make it clearer to the public who we are and what we do. Additionally, we wanted to align our logo more closely with the National AHEC Organization.

Our old site was the result of piecing together different sections over the course of many years, so the decision was made to enter the modern age. Our new site is much more user friendly and responsive! This means that no matter the size of screen, or the device used, our website will adapt. We have a lot of information on our site and we hope the new layout, and aesthetics, will allow visitors to find what they are looking for more easily. Another great benefit of our new, more modern website is the ability to quickly update and add information. We are really proud of the finished product. I really hope everyone has a chance to check it out and provide feedback!
