On May 27, 2022, the THEARI Board of Directors voted to dissolve the organization due to insufficient financial sustainability. The last few years have been fiscally challenging and efforts to establish long-term sustainable funding have been ineffective. THEARI will be ending services with a planned close date by September 30, 2022.
The Health Education and Resources Institute (THEARI) is an independent 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization. Within an innovative framework, THEARI partners to create and implement inclusive healthcare education programs addressing the dynamic needs of students, healthcare providers, and communities. Our programs and goals allow us to improve the distribution of the healthcare workforce, create educational opportunities to address the healthcare needs of our communities, and increase the diversity in health disciplines while engaging, connecting, and empowering communities.
Nurse Refresher Program Transition
Going forward, THEARI will be transitioning the Nurse Refresher programs to the Colorado Center for Nursing Excellence. The Center was formally opened in 2003 with a mission to build the nursing workforce during a severe nursing shortage. Kris Wenzel, the original Executive Director of CCAHEC, and founder of the Nurse Refresher programs, was an original champion of the Center and their work. We are honored and grateful that these innovative and critical programs will live on at the Center.
Other THEARI programs
THEARI’s other programs (All of Us Research Program, Behavioral Health Equity Corps, Health Careers Pre-Apprenticeship, Regional Health Connectors, and Student Housing) will complete all contracts and deliverables by June 30, 2022. There are opportunities for other organizations to host the Regional Health Connectors and the All of Us Research Programs. Interested groups are encouraged to contact Lin Browning for more information.
Gratitude for Our Partners
We would like to thank our many partners, participants, community members, board, staff, and volunteer members for supporting CCAHEC/THEARI for over 20 years. We are grateful for the opportunities to impact countless communities and lives. Though we are saddened to find ourselves in the situation of having to close our doors, we know that the mission of THEARI will live on.
Any questions concerning THEARI’s dissolution and programmatic changes can be addressed to Lin Browning, Executive Director at Lin@WeAreTHEARI.org or 303-481-8686.
